Het Mode label 'Stop Bleeding' is een samenwerking tussen Diane Schouten en Marc Mulders. Opgericht voorjaar 2005 te Tilburg, een stad waar van oudsher het katholicisme en het textielambacht dominante factoren waren.
'Stop Bleeding' werkt vanuit deze geestelijke en picturale erfenis. Het wil een T Shirt, jurk of een alledaags gebruiksvoorwerp als een tas versieren en decoreren met elementen uit en herinneringen aan deze erfenis, niet om weemoedig om te kijken maar juist vooruit te kijken, door te pogen een feestelijkheid hand in hand met een symboliek of reminicentie aan deze wereld in borduursel of print op een tas de wereld in te sturen.
Een voorbeeld hiervan zijn de tassen met daarop een vis geborduurd, waarbij binnen in de buik een afbeelding van Maria is te ontwaren. De vis als 'schuilkerk', als een ark van Noach; een waardevolle afbeelding wordt zo gekoesterd en bewaard voor betere tijden.
'Stop Bleeding' wil met het gebruik van mooie beelden, symbolen en tekens op kleding en acessoires de drager a.h.w. een bescherming bieden, een schild vormen, tegen alle nihilisme pose en brutaliteit om ons heen. De drager van een Stop Bleeding kledingstuk laat van zich spreken, en brengt de versieringen en tekeningen als symbolen van naastenliefde en verzoening de wereld in.
The fashion label 'Stop Bleeding' is a collaboration between Diane Schouten and Marc Mulders. It began in the spring of 2005, in Tilburg, a city where Catholicism and textile craftsmanship were once dominant factors.
'Stop Bleeding' works on the basis of this spiritual and pictorial legacy. It aims to decorate a T-shirt, dress or day-to-day accessory such as a handbag with elements from and memories of this legacy, not in order to look back nostalgically but, in fact, to look forward, by attempting to send into the world, by way of embroidery or printing on a handbag, a festiveness associated with symbols or reminiscences of this world.
An example of this is the handbag embroidered with a fish, which holds a depiction of the Virgin Mary in its stomach. The fish as a ‘secret church’, an ark like Noah’s; a valuable image is hereby cherished and kept for better times.
'Stop Bleeding' wishes,
through the use of beautiful images, symbols and signs on clothing and accessories, to offer a kind of protection to the wearer, to form a shield against all of the nihilistic posing and brutality that surrounds us.
The wearer of a ‘Stop Bleeding’ article of clothing speaks out and introduces the decorations and drawings to the world as symbols of reconciliation and love of mankind.
